Armors

The Armors and Robes stats serve a single purpose, which is to allow you to meet the required level of stronger equipment. Those stats have no other purpose.

Actual armors and robes give you more protection, resistance against elements and sometimes bonuses such as bonus damage, attack speed, cast time, and lower essence cost for spells.
